Excellent! I scaled the spices for a 2-1/2 lb. roast and added i tsp. coriander per a friend's recommendation. The seasonings were spot on! I have an electric pressure cooker, The Instant Pot and I seared the meat in the pot prior to setting on loftier force per unit area for 45 minutes. Perfection! The meat was very tender and shredded easily. I decided to identify the shredded meat in a frying pan with some hot lard to crisp it upwards only a bit before adding to flour tortillas with a few toppings. Loved the flavor and ease of this recipe! And loved how quick the force per unit area cooker was at tenderizing the meat. I volition definitely brand this again!

Tin can I requite this x stars instead??? This was my 1st ever attempt at carnitas, simply I take ever wanted to try them. It was just my hubby & I to eat them so I quartered a 5 lb Boston barrel and adjusted the spices. I did add footing coriander every bit others suggested. And I used Mexican oregano (just because I had it on hand). I upped the orange juice to a cup (was afraid it wouldn't exist enough liquid), I didn't retrieve well-nigh the juices fromy the roast. I put it in my Instant Pot for 40 minutes with a NPR. WONDERFUL!! I served it shredded on a corn tortillas with diced onion & cilantro. Merely Similar A MEXICAN Food TRUCK!!!

Holy Cow! This was great and and then easy! This was my first meal made with my Instant Pot. I have to admit I was scared of the thing, but I had this big pork roast sitting on the counter and the guys were coming home in an hour so I surged alee. Instead of cubing the meat I just sliced it upwardly into ii inch slabs, rubbed on the spices, jammed them in the pot, poured over the rest of the ingredients, followed the IP directions (I set information technology for 55 minutes). The meat shredded itself. So tasty - even better than doing in the deadening cooker. So impressed - I will exist making this recipe again and again! Thanks!

My review keeps getting entered before I'grand finished. This was EXCELLENT. First time making carnitas and first time using my instant pot. I marinated the pork cubes in the orange juice and spices overnight in the fridge in a gallon ziploc bag. I put the pork in the pot, 1 cup of lime juice on top considering I needed more liquid and that's what I had- plus I knew the flavor a would work well- then I added the onion and garlic on tiptop and ready my pot for 45 minutes. Mine does not have high or low pressure settings. Information technology as well doesn't have a NPR setting so I merely closed the steam vent before starting and waited for the float valve to sink downwards. (Took about 20 minutes.) The pork was ridiculously moist and flavorful. I made a spicy radish cilantro salsa to become on top and some paleo tortillas (fabricated with plantains and tapioca starch) I brand a lot of dissimilar recipes from apps, cooking sites and cookbooks, and a lot of them are really expert, but this is one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. Thank you lot for this recipe.
03/07/2016
This was fantastic! The pork was fall autonomously tender and the most moist pork shoulder I accept ever had. I made the spice blend as is with the addition of 1-one/ii tsp. of ground coriander and merely i tbsp. of table salt. I allow the spice rub sit on the pork for well-nigh 15 minutes, set the pressure cooker to chocolate-brown and seared the pork in batches to get a nice chaff. I and so added all the pork into the pressure cooker with the onions, garlic and orange juice. I set the pressure cooker for forty minutes and was glad I did because the pork was perfectly cooked at 40 minutes. I served the carnitas with homemade pico de gallo, shredded lettuce, sour cream, & a clasp of lime. I will definitely be making this again in the future! Thanks for the recipe!
04/03/2017
Astonishing ! Had a 3 lb roast so pulled dorsum on the spices a piddling bit (but non half). Cooked for 45 in Instant Pot -- the best carnitas I've ever had. Tip: Fry up your shredded meat in a pan after cooking - gives you lot crispy bits and tender bits in every bite.
08/21/2018
The spices were great just got lost in the juices created during pressure level cooking. A cup of orangish juice is to much liquid. I have a instant pot which allowed me to sauté the encounter prior to pressure level cooking. I gear up the timer for i hour on the manual setting and immune to to naturally release pressure. I would recommend draining the liquid adding additional seasoning then sautéing the meet for added season.
05/15/2016
Gulp...used my force per unit area cooker. (Why am I then nervous almost that thing?). Splendid recipe. Added coriander per other reviews and a bit of chipotle pepper, more garlic. . Tender. Juicy and very flavorful.
01/01/2017
I used a bone-in pork shoulder, trimmed the fatty, removed the bone, and cut into large cubes. I doubled the recipe and wish I wouldn't have doubled the salt. It was well-nigh too much. Luckily the rice and beans helped negate some of the saltiness. The kickoff dark, we fabricated burritos. We had so much left over that we made burrito bowls for freezer meals/tiffin. I made this in my Instant Pot. I used the manual setting for 40 minutes with 10 minutes NPR. Information technology was absolutely autumn-autonomously tender and succulent. I will definitely go far again and again.
01/15/2017
Very proficient, I made information technology just like the recipe instructed but i also placed the shredded pork on a greased blistering pan and baked it on low for well-nigh 10 minutes.
07/07/2016
This was succulent, my whole family unit loved information technology! I fabricated it exactly like the recipe says and served with some cilantro lime rice. The only thing I'd change for side by side time, is perhaps shredding it a niggling less. Carnitas are supposed to utilise a picayune chip chunkier meat, rather then shredded.
06/13/2017
Loved this! I scaled this downwardly for a 3 lb. butt roast and added 1 tsp. a ground coriander. I made this in my InstantPot, browning the meat a bit using the saute function before sealing and pressure cooking for 50 minutes. At that place was quite a bit of liquid in the pot when the pressure came down, which I ended upward draining off before shredding. The flavors were delicious! I loved how the spices were subtle enough to know that they are there, but non so powerful that it took away from the pork itself. Nosotros ate this on corn tortillas and topped them with diced onion, tomatoes, cilantro, queso fresco and salsa verde. Yum!
05/06/2018
I usually don't give reviews but I accept to on this. We used a slightly smaller pork roast (~4 lbs) but followed the residuum of ingredients to a "t". Outstanding recipe! You have to try it!
01/21/2017
Was our beginning time trying Carnitas and it was the best carnitas any one in our family unit had ever had. Excellent recipe. Definitely going into my favorites list. I made information technology equally is, I'm non one of those who has to change upwardly everything I see and say "oh it would be improve this way or this manner or that manner." I just made it every bit is, and information technology was fantastic. Thank you for the recipe.
08/29/2018
My husband and I enjoy plenty of flavor, I added extra cumin, chili powder, and garlic. I also used a citrus ipa beer instead of orange juice. It turned out great! We hosted a dinner and everyone enjoyed!
05/twenty/2018
Wonderful Season!!!! I cut back the salt to one & half teaspoons for a 3lb. Roast. It was the perfect amount. This recipe is quick and easy to make, I utilise my pressure cooker on top of the stove and it turned out perfectly. I serve them this the traditional way they do in United mexican states with chopped white onion to put on top & pieces of lime to squeeze over the onion. Salsa on the side as well. We used the smallest size tortilla. My adult family unit loved this recipe ! I also served these with Mexican Bean Salad mail service on this site by Karen Castle. It was hitting also I volition make this again, and again!!!!
03/23/2019
I used smoked paprika and cooked information technology in my crockpot on high for 5 hours...perfection! This is a perfect keto recipe!
03/xx/2017
Ridiculous how wonderful this was. I seared the pork cubes start in the Instant Pot before setting it on pressure. I really messed upwardly at first, forgetting to add the OJ and onions/garlic until 30 minutes subsequently information technology started force per unit area cooking. Manually released the pressure level, threw it in and resumed pressure cooking for another xx minutes. It was still delicious and tender (hardly had to shred the pork, it just crumbled on its own).
x/03/2016
And so proficient, easy to make and tweak. Nosotros made extra and left overs are just as skilful. Recommend browning in a fry pan for that extra crisp.
03/07/2017
This is my new become-to potluck dish. Took it for a basketball team dinner and the boys loved it! I agree almost the coriander during cooking. I as well garnished with fresh cilantro. Then I stuck it in a actually hot oven for 10 minutes to add crispy bits.
03/24/2017
Very adept recipe. I'll definitely make it again. Very simple. Neat flavor. Served with spanish rice.
01/fifteen/2019
Turned out awesome! I used a 2lb tenderloin and adjusted accordingly. And so tasty I want to potable the juice. Is that allowed?!
11/eighteen/2016
I have never fabricated carnitas earlier and was quite worried. I was pleasantly surprised to say. The pork came out so tender and juicy. So succulent. I followed other users' comments and added a tsp of coriander. Was not disappointed.
04/01/2019
DELISH!! Made as recipe states with addition of about i tsp whole coriander seed in the mix. Cooked in Instant Pot on Loftier Pressure for 55mins. Crisped upwardly on stove elevation, served with warmed corn tortillas, cilantro, cheese, and sour cream. PERFECT!!
01/x/2017
Made it with simply 2 pounds of pork shoulder, simply kept the 1 cup OJ for the pressure to build up enough and maybe two/3 of the spices. Ready information technology to thirty min of pressure, and came out great. There's a lot of liquid left over, merely I will use it as a base for soup.
01/20/2017
I made this last night and it was so perfect! The just improver I made was adding a light-green pepper and I used a piffling less table salt simply considering we don't like a lot of salt flavour. These were the best wraps I have ever made and the best success in my pressure cooker so far. We just added some sour cream, freshly grated cheese, and my how grown/canned salsa to the tortilla wraps and had rice and beans as sides and information technology was an outstanding meal!
xi/08/2018
Delish!! Put information technology over spaghetti squash, added a piffling shredded cheese, sour cream and tomatoes. It was bang-up!
12/05/2018
Wow! I did everything as described plus added the coriander. The Mexican restaurants around me are going to wonder what happened to me. Information technology's That good.
05/twenty/2016
Added a footling actress orange juice equally I was concerned about the corporeality of fluid with a force per unit area cooker ( don't use frequently). It was fine. Probably was fine as written. Tasted great. Made tacos tonight the leftovers volition be BBQ sandwiches tomorrow. I will keep this recipe. This made me really appreciate my pressure cooker: carnitas in an 60 minutes-woot!
03/12/2017
I've been wanting to try to make pork Carnitas for a while. Fifty-fifty went out and bought a pressure cooker so I could make it. I tried this recipe and it came out admittedly wonderful. The but thing is, I didn't have any chili powder so I substituted Cayanne powder, which gave it a little bit of a space. Merely, nevertheless very skilful. I'm sure if I had chili powder it would've tasted exactly as I expected. Looking forrard to trying this recipe once more.
06/12/2018
This was soooooooo expert and super like shooting fish in a barrel to do in the instant pot. I would never have made this without owning i of those things. I made copycat chipotle burrito bowls with it and street tacos. SOOOOO GOOD
05/05/2018
Unproblematic. Clean. Flavorful. I finished it up in the broiler for a few minutes. Perfect.
01/29/2017
This was delicious. We used dried minced onions instead of fresh b/c that's all we had. I also added dried cilantro, per another reviewer's suggestion. I've never had street tacos, so I tin can' t compare, merely these were definitely a unique and wonderful taste. I will definitely make these once more.
12/04/2018
OMG - AMAZING! I followed the recipe exactly and it was perfect. Much better than a restaurant even.
02/sixteen/2017
What a wonderful and yummy change of pace for pork. I sliced a pork loin for this recipe and served it with oven fried potatoes and salad. It was corking. I did add together the cumin.
05/17/2016
The pork was fork tender and so flavorful. I halved the recipe as I had a roast that was just under 3 lbs. The seasonings were perfect. The only changes I made were that I juiced two umbilicus oranges and added the juice and three of the halves to the pot also as using fresh oregano instead of dried, every bit that was what I had on paw. I made it in the Instant Pot, cooking for 60 minutes on loftier pressure, allowing it to release naturally for 12 mins. and and then quick releasing. Even my picky kiddos gobbled it downwardly.
04/26/2018
Fashion too much table salt.
02/21/2017
Very, Very good!!!! Simply was I was looking for!
04/23/2018
This was fantastic! My hubby loved it! Will definitely make again and again!
08/thirty/2016
This was soo delicious. Everyone in the family loved it, kids included. The changes I made: added 1 tsp coriander, ane.5 cups OJ, and didn't have an onion so added the ends of 4 green onions that I had, and threw in 2 Anaheim peppers whole that I had. I take an instant pot and gear up it on high pressure for sixty minutes, with 15 minutes of natural release. Pair it with a homemade salsa, cilantro, crema, rice and beans and tortillas. Soo good that I am making it once again after this calendar week for company. Cheers for this super piece of cake and delicious dinner that I didn't have to slave away in the kitchen for. Absolutely love information technology!

OMG! This turned out AWESOME! You must try this recipe. Authentic Mexican restaurant quality.
08/11/2019
While the pork turned out very tender, at that place was absolutely no flavor at all to this and I followed the recipe exactly as written. I'll have to zhoozh information technology up somehow as to not waste a skillful piece of meat.
02/16/2017
I followed the recipe only scaled to 3lbs of pork and added poblano, jalapeno and hot banana peppers. I used a large old fashioned pressure cooker and was afraid i didn't accept enough liquid so I shortened cooking fourth dimension to xxx mins and it was perfect. Really enjoyed information technology and adjacent fourth dimension I will use half-dozen lbs of pork because the leftovers will be great. Saved the liquid to make gravy side by side day. Cheers for a tasty care for.
12/30/2016
I followed the recipe except I cooked the meat in a tedious cooker not a pressure cooker. Delicious!!
08/27/2020

02/25/2018
Amazing recipe!
02/19/2017
I combined this recipe with some other one and added lime juice and lemon juice to the braising liquid. Also, after the meat was done I shredded it and spread it out on a foil lined cookie sheet with well-nigh 1/2 loving cup of the braising liquid and roasted it for nigh 10 mins in a 400- degree oven. Makes the pork get squeamish and crispy on the outside!
05/xx/2017
First-class! Perfect as is. You do non need to add more liquid fifty-fifty though you lot recall you should.
04/23/2018
This turned out perfect! The pork was juicy, tender and full of flavor. The only matter I did differently was add 1 ane/2 tsp. of coriander similar the other reviewers mentioned. I served the meat on street taco sized flour tortillas with my chopped pineapple, pickled jalapeño and jicama salsa and queso fresco cheese. My family raved near this and it is going to be my got to for carnitas from at present on! Crawly recipe, Give thanks YOU!
07/20/2019
Turned out well, I didn't cook it in a pressure level cooker but in a crockpot then I ended upward shredding the meat after it cooked overnight and so it was a bit different. Everyone really liked it though. I looked up online well-nigh different types of toppings and establish one that was actually well-received which was chopped red onion soaked in lime juice with a little salt and sugar. Also had caramelized onions mixed with peppers, queso fresco, guacamole, a tomatillo salsa, and served rice and beans on the side (although some people put the beans in the tacos likewise).
03/24/2017
I fabricated a 3lb pork shoulder and did not scale dorsum the seasonings. We don't eat much sugar, so I subbed the OJ with lemon juice and a teaspoon of stevia. I swapped a shallot for the onion, and I added a cap full of liquid fume. We wrapped them with romaine leaves. It was amazing! My kids fought over the seconds. Nosotros will definitely brand this once again.
08/09/2019

02/11/2019
It came out amazing. And so Tasty and fast
01/16/2021
Fabricated this for the first time in our new Ninja Foodi, came out crawly. When reheating leftovers I put them in a pan and crisped them up a scrap, love the texture of the crispy edges. Next time I think I'm going to air fry the meat a bit one time pressure level cooking is washed. This recipe is definitely a keeper.
01/xxx/2021
I had a pork butt that needed to be cooked asap in the fridge and used this recipe in my instant pot. This just came out of the pressure cooker at ten:xxx pm and we can't finish eating it if that says annihilation. I added a teaspoon of coriander and didn't have orange juice so I squeezed some mandarin oranges into chicken broth and used that. The flavour is so amazing that I skimmed the fat off the top and will use the juice for posole tomorrow.
08/30/2021
This was admittedly delicious and super fast in the instant pot! Followed all directions and it was perfection to say the least. Y'all need to make this!

This is a wonderfully easy recipe to get correct. The flavors are spot-on.
01/21/2021
My roast was only two.75 pounds but I did not arrange the seasonings because I know that you lose season in the IP. I did adjust the OJ downwardly to 3/4 loving cup just was nevertheless able to get this to pressure level. Subsequently I shredded it the meat, I put it under the broiler for a few minutes to dry it a bit and get some crispy edges. I definitely recommend this step. This was very fantabulous and will probably exist in regular rotation. It's perfect for inside tacos, enchiladas or even tamales.
12/04/2020
This is such a peachy recipe!! Information technology's my become to for pork carnitas. I do make one minor change. At the end after shredding, I add the meat to a sheet pan and bake in the middle of the oven for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes I mix upwardly the meat and bast with juices and put it back in the oven for another 5 minutes, and so serve.
12/28/2020
First fourth dimension I made this, as directed, turned out perfectly. It was tender and delicious.

07/24/2017
I adjusted for 3.5 lb roast and added coriander. The flavor was incredible.
05/15/2018
Cut the ingredients dorsum by half and did this with a couple big craven breasts with the "instant pot" (because that was what I had) with fourth dimension cut in one-half also. Shredded for a taco salad. Was awesome !! Will try with pork adjacent time, thanks.
11/16/2016
After cooking for 25 minutes, I cooled the force per unit area cooker down immediately and added crimson and green pepper strips. I cooked information technology for another couple minutes with the pressure level before immediately cooling it down again. It was tender and shredded easily. I served it with warmed flour tortillas, green onions and jalapeños (for those who wanted a trivial more spice). To me the spiciness was perfect. My hubby and guests loved information technology! Next time I will endeavour adding some garlic to the spices and maybe then it will get v stars.

This recipe is the greatest. I've made it several times, and every time, I recall ", if I got these Carnitas from a Mexican restaurant, I would recommend this restaurant to everybody. Easy, fast and astonishing.
09/06/2017
This was succulent! I added coriander every bit suggested by some other user (1 tsp for a 2# pork loin). I couldn't find "butt" and so I did pork loin roast. I had to suit the seasoning simply *don't* conform the liquid. I besides used a whole small onion. My married man thought information technology was delicious. Cheers for sharing your recipe!
10/21/2017
Second time making this. Followed recipe exactly! Only exception is I utilise a trimmed bone-in pork shoulder (I throw the trimmed os in to get all the meat off of it). Everyone loves the result.

Perfect! A regular at our home because it's my husbands favorite
x/14/2017

01/30/2020
i had a 3 lb pork butt then I halved all the seasonings except chile and the orange juice. The 1/2 t chile seems really light anyway. I used a gallon ziplock to "rub the pork with the seasonings" and oiled in the same pocketbook after that. I browned my pork chunks earlier adding the juice and cooking. I added 3/4 t coriander per other reviews. Similar others I broiled information technology later on for a bit leaving the juices in the pressure cooker. Expert and very easy. I also only cooked 45 minutes since it was a smaller roast.
07/xvi/2018
Prissy seasonings - my business firm smells super great when making this!!
08/15/2017
Out of this globe flavor, tender, and so like shooting fish in a barrel!
01/09/2019
Super super super EASY RECIPE! My husband literally stopped speaking and then said how great it was. He kept maxim how great it was and I was floating on deject 9 lol. I volition try calculation the coriander powder next fourth dimension to see how much of a difference information technology makes. Wonderful recipe!
12/29/2018
Delicious and versatile! My family devoured this in the form of tacos the showtime night, quesadillas the next nighttime, and then I added our favorite BBQ sauce to shine information technology off the last night. Then tender!!! I broiled it on low for six-8 minutes after shredding, to give a desirable texture and pull a little wet out since it's so juicy. Other comments are correct: Trust the 1 c. orange juice quantity--it'south enough.
01/01/2018
Delicious! Follow the recipe and it came out amazing. Every bit someone else noted, the meat basically shreds itself. So tender and proficient.
09/23/2022

02/xiii/2018
Added 1 Poblano Pepper and 1 jalapeño pepper. Meat ended upwards being almost three lbs after trimming. Meat was cutting into roughly 2 x 4" cubes. Reduced pressure level cooking fourth dimension to 25 minutes for traditional pressure cooker. Meat shred beautifully. Served with Lime Rice STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS RECIPE!
06/27/2020
So practiced! if using the Instant pot only cook for about 35 min. If yous cook longer the orangish juice will not exist plenty liquid and you lot'll accept burnt or in my case nicely caramelized meat. a bit longer and it would have burned. Corking flavor!
12/29/2017
Wow, this was amazing! Fabricated it exactly equally written. Cook-in-your-oral fissure tender with great flavor. The entire family loved information technology. Made homemade flour tortillas from Allrecipes for wonderful tacos.
07/18/2018
